Mr Teddy is Angry – a short animation by Fabrizio Ellul and supported by Screen Malta – has been selected for the European Union Film Festival in India.
The European Union Film Festival is an annual event celebrating the diversity and depth of European cinema and culture. 2020 marks the 25th anniversary of the Festival in India and for the first time goes digital. In this very special edition, the Festival will feature outstanding, award-winning films from across Europe, celebrating the most recent cinematic triumphs at Cannes, Locarno, Venice, Berlin and San Sebastian, amongst others. Highlighting individual stories yet reflecting universal experiences, the films offer a window into the heart of Europe and provide a unique look at the power of cinema to negotiate both quotidian and extraordinary circumstances.
The online festival will be exclusively for India.
Mr. Teddy is Angry is a short animation (4 mins) by Fabrizio Ellul done in a 2D frame-by-frame technique where every frame is digitally hand drawn.
It follows the story of a Giant Teddy that makes an appearance in the Valletta Grand Harbour and soon wreaks havoc.
The short animation is being produced by Filfla Studio and has received a ‘New Talent’ grant by Screen Malta.
Mr. Teddy is Angry was finalized in March 2021 and is currently being submitted to Film Festivals before being made available publicly.
This is Filfla Studio’s second animation after the award winning ‘Filfla’ which had won the Kinemastik International Short Film Festival Audience Award and was an Official Selection in various international Film Festivals.
